2006 Yealm RNLI Passage Race
Here are some photos from some safety cover we did a few weekends ago.
We travelled down from London to Plymouth on Friday and arrived in Plymouth about 5pm. Launched "Southern Comfort" and shot (the operative word here!) round and up the coat to Newton Ferrers. NF is a gorgeous little town well sheltered from the bad weather and we high tailed it to the Yealm Yacht Club after blagging a free mooring from the Harbour Master for the safety briefing.
The event is in its 50th year and all the proceeds go to the RNLI. Basically any yacht or dinghy can enter and they have to make the passage from Plymouth to the finish line outside the Yacht Club. We go down and support the event for free as our donation to the RNLI for the year.
After a pukka meal in the Dolphin Pub (Recommended!) we met the very friendly faces at the Yealm Yacht Club and drink lightly (YEAH RIGHT!) before returning to Plymouth and the Mt Batten Centre.
Next moring the divers woke us all nice and early (thanks guys!) and the rest of our little entourage took to the water.
Here are the pics from our quick trip up the Tamar to Devonport;
