6.8m CC RIB, w/Penta Turbo Diesel

New member here, from West Palm Beach, Florida. Recently got me a 6.8m Center Console RIB, with inboard Volvo Penta 31-series Turbo Diesel (130hp). Its a 1993 and built by North American Rigid Corp (NARC). 3m wide beam. It was originally used in Maine Law Enforcement fleet (Wildlife Commission Patrol).

It has Furuno radar & Garmin sounder/gps. It goes 18kts @ 3200rpm, and 24kts @ 3800rpm (full tilt).

Cost $5750

Here are few pics.

How do S. Bell.

I believe that you boys are expecting a heavy hurricane season down there.
You are in the impending throws of El nino and we are in the throws of Global warming.

Welcome to "Da ZOne" from Ireland

Thats a great bargain - should be cheap to run as well although with your fuel costs that hardley matters!!!

Remember it will be far more fun in the rough than on a flat calm day!!!

Thanks guys. Our diesel prices are slowly (and steadily) going up, diesel is $2.81/gallon now. Gasoline is $3.10/gallon for lowest (87) octane. Much higher than when I moved here in 1999, when 87octane gas was 99cents/gallon.

Either way, my RIB gets 5 nautical miles per gallon of fuel. It is not too fast, but just right. It does handle rough seas very well (usually better than the crew does), and is very "soft" when landing on waves. Very wet ride if there is wind tho.

I love it, pefect freediving/spearfishing machine, on a budget.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Welcome SB... Make sure you head over to the North American threads... It's much more civilized over there...

That's a great looking boat... and same big-arse fish! I worked in Freeport many years ago and did a lot of free-diving there. It's nice to see it coming back, but in my advancing years, SCUBA is about as strenuous as I want to get...

Awsome bargain guys! Looks like a fun boat, and as already said it might not be fast but that won't matter in extreme seas. It's those rough conditions when everyone is heading in that you guys can be heading out. Welcome to RIBnet
