8.5m Commuter RIB
Some renderings of an 8.5 meter RIB I am designing for a costumer in Norway. It is designed as a fast commuter between the city and the summer house. Long slender hull for very fine entry angles for a comfortable ride. I will post more details later. Hope you like it...

Is the customers business name the same as a fish often found swimming in circles in a round bowl, looks like there is a resemblance ?
Looks very cool

This project is designed as custom build, and there will only be one built, although variations of the same design would be possible if anyone is interested. There is no connection between this and goldfish.

I take that as a compliment Its looks similar with the “Wally” style bow and angular design/styling, but it’s a very different boat, with a non stepped hull and a totally different interior. It’s designed for moderate power and moderate speeds.

This one is 8.5 meter long and 2.4 meter wide. The width was limited by the mooring at the summer house. It’s designed to cruise efficiently and comfortably between 25 and 30 knots, and at this speed it will run more efficiently without steps. Power is from a 200hp Volvo Penta. But as I said earlier; this is a one off and there will be only one made. Let me know if you want something similar specifically designed for your application/needs.

Some progress pics.
1. The hull with skin panels
2. The jig for the hull. The plan is to print out full scale paper templates for the parts.
3+4. Construction of the console.

The builder, Asle Staurland, is making real progress with hull.
Skin panels are on and next job is to glass in the transom.

Little update from snowy Norway.
The boat is now and the water and have been tested with very good results.
Top speed so far is 36 knots with an undersized propeller, so there is more to come.
Will post some more pics when the snow has cleared.
