We meet up with Alex Brown for a good day out, conditions offshore was a little rough for the smaller boat of the three, so we headed up river. Later Alex took us up to a pub that could only be reached on highwater springs, and forced me to drink beer.
A good night cut short as the tide was about to put our boats on the car park as it went over the top of the quay

PS Alex when is the next tide again.

Was planning to bring her home to Fleetwood at the end of the holiday.
Typical for me we had force 7's for the days when I could have done it.

Didnt fancy 300 miles in these conditions, with a new RIB, by myself and slow as engine not even run in.
Still i could still play in Milford Haven.

Plan to bring her up in the next few weeks, going to work, antifoul, finish instruments etc the next bank holiday then bring her up the next nice weekend we get.

Hopefully there should be an image here - my first time uploading 'n all.
This was us getting ready just before leaving Milford after some idiot left the lock pits at speed (/me looks all innocent).

Just before slowing down to no planing area, 39knots for about 15 seconds
Gary, I think the next reasonable tides are in June and then August - will have to check the tide tables. We're going all the way upto Haverfordwest with any luck on the tides in June.

Hi Alex

a good day by all, we think.

As for 39 Kts, think we have found mine is under propped Ribcraft have suggested we swap for a 22P to a 24P and try that. so may be a bit more in her eek:

We are down again last three weeks August so if the tides are right count us in, if not maybe have a few days out a bit further a field.

How about Caldy, Ireland ?.
Will see waht the weather lets us do

Had a few trips out in the "bad" weather but think we had the best.

I have more pics of your RIB & some video, will video will e-mail them when i get them sorted.

Regards Gary:

Hello Gary,

Yeah, it was a nice day - I was told earlier on today that everything flattened right off out past the heads later on that day.... typical eh?

39 knots for me then was flat out, but 400rpm below my engines max... Humber think that a drop from 21" to 19" prop will bring up the revs for my boat, but in theory, I reckon that will reduce the top end speed - since I am no expert on this, I am just waiting to see at the moment. I should imagine I will ultimately end up with a stainless prop, but that will only come when I have cleared my visa bill

I will definately be up for Caldey Island - hopefully, the wind will be a bit more in our favour next time you are down. Ireland isn't really *that* far either I don't think, although it's pretty well a full tank of fuel for me though, so I will have to see what consumption I can get in the next few months now the engine is properly run in.

The Haverfordwest night for us is Tuesday 15th of June, provided it's good weather, there are usually a fair number of boats going up. I have just checked the tidetables now, and there aren't any really good tides in August, but I will check with some other locals first, cos Cresswell could still be possible even on the normal springs in August.

Video etc... sounds good - I sent you an e-mail earlier on with some links.

Thanks,

-Alex

A new Boat

Hi Garygee,

A very good set of pic's. Boat looks very good aswell, What type of engine/drive unit did you decide on? & Why?

And dare I ask (how much would a set up like yours cost)?

I hope you have lots of pleasure with your new craft.

Happy playtimes
