A Trip to Caernarfon

We made a little trip on Monday, Ian (Cypman) and myself, down to welsh Wales.
The weather on the IOM was what passes for summer here, but at least it was sunny, briefly, in N. Wales. The return to Peel was not even filmed, the weather was that terrible I neglected to press the remote control!!
Here is the video:

Went round the castle though.

Nice one Brian! Can't have been your first visit though, what with the Harbour Master frantically waving you off and them pointing artillery at you....

We've been looking at doing Barrow-in-Furness to IOM, maybe next year sometime.

I think he was refering to the outstanding build quality, strength and resilience of our boat, normally associated to bouys having to endure the sea on an ongoing basis. Many a rib's build quality isn't up to being on a mooring all season

(you try getting out a lot when you have a baby mid July. Bad planning though!)

I think we will, probably next year now unless the weather does something miraculous. The plan was to launch at Walney Island & end up in Douglas. Come across on the Saturday am, spend the night & back Sunday. Having never been to the IOM, is Douglas a good choice?

Douglas is fine, just avoid TT Fortnight if you want overnight accommodation.
Just let us know when you are coming over and Brian and/or I will sort you out.

Douglas? Hmmm. OK I spose. But FAR better is Peel on the other side of the island.
But then again I am biased!

holy cow that's me! We had one hell of a trip. With a 7.7m tide running out over cearnarvon bar against a huge swell, the surf on the bar was over 20ft. We stuck to the channel and had to go right across to llanwyn island to get around it. With breaking surf waves larger than I even saw in oz only 50-100m away I was bricking it! The surf was the same inshore to newborough. Just a channel 100m wide with a massive smooth swell. We then had a lumpy long haul to morfa nefyn, only to find the bay exposed to the one wind direction that ruins it, easterly! So didn't go ashore but it looked busy. Also wanted to get back over the bar before +3hrs.

Still, had an awesome trip and then pulled the boat out today!
