Yes, its fine and drove out from behind the boat last night in about 14" of snow, remarkable.

It's been a total nightmare. Portsmouth seems to have had it worse than anywhere in Hampshire I've been in the last few days. Managed to get the van stuck in the snow yesterday resulting in major clutch damage.

Nice and chilly on Haslar Lake (Which is brackish - it's filled and refilled by Salt Water, so is slightly more salty than most)

I was waiting for something like that. We tested the depth of ice by boring a hole right at the edge, had a third chap waiting on shore with a long throw line, didn't stand next to each other, and live in one of the houses on the edge of the lake. It was daylight, we were sober.
I'll agree that it's not exactly risk free, but we took sensible precautions and were very cautious on the ice.
