Got any photos? That sounds like a weird one. Are you talking about the tilt tube or the actual transom bracket? Either way it should be an insurance or warranty job. I feel his pain

Hi Andy that doesn't look good! Is it a case of metal fatigue especially as it has cracked across the saddle?
You boys will not be venturing far today if you have the wx I have down here on the Clyde, hellish to say the least. Doubt the ladies will have your attention today !
Cheers

Very disapointing to see the saddle break like that on a very new engine. I would be surprised if it was metal fatigue as the boat is only 5.0m. In my experance the body is usually weaker than the machinary that it on. This is not the case on bigger ribs as they cushion the body more from the high shock loadings.

I would not expect this to be covered by insurance but I would expect it to be covered by warranty

If the engine was trimmed up too much then it lets the engine twist sideways allowing the saddle to break, like in the above pic. It can also be a problem with the engine bolts tightened to different torques if one side is tighter than the other it "stretche" the saddle, though this is less likley than the trim option. It happens alot to race boats thats why the bigger mercs have an "offshore" option for their saddles that are way chunkier, If you go over to boatmad their is alot of discussion on how to strengthen the bigger Etecs.
