An unusually Sunny day in Pembrokeshire

Departed Milford Docks this morning at about 1100hrs, and headed out past St Annes Head towards Skomer, aiming to get all the way around the coast to Broad Haven (North).
This pic shows Skomer Island in the distance, just as we have rounded St Annes Head - there was very little / no swell here at all today.... great stuff

As we got out to Skomer we were joined by many birds, there were a few Puffins about, quite a colourful site.... unfortunately the digicam doesn't really do it justice.

When we got to the furthest west point of Skomer, there was quite a tide ripping around the island..... there was very little breeze here, but waves in some places over a metre high - very confused seas, but we stayed completely dry

This is Stack Rocks on the way to Broad Haven. Skomer is now behind us, and Broad Haven is just around the corner. Newgale beach is there somewhere....

This is Little Haven, right in the corner of the bay. Great little village this is, and a wonderful place to go. There is an RNLI inshore lifeboat stationed here.

After stopping for Lunch just off Broad Haven beach, we headed back to Milford. Time was getting a little tight, so we followed a gps track from the last time we went through Jack Sound, and here is a picture of us just approaching this interesting bit of water....

The GPS was showing us going at 9.2knots, yet water speed was just over 2knots.... there was a bit of current flowing through here

General picture of the currents as we went through Jack Sound between Skomer Island, and the main land. Going through just after low water meant that the tide wasn't as stong as it could have been, but it was still pretty strong.

Finally St Annes Head Lighthouse.
I went a bit ott with the digicam today - nearly 110 pictures in total, all of which on the website.... it'd be boring to post em all here
Annoying black spot on the camera... looks like the ccd has something wrong.

Lovely photos of a beautiful part of the world Alex.

When the weather is kind , it's hard to imagine a nicer place.

It may be possible to get some of us together for a spot of Pembrokeshire cruising the first week in August. Please see the thread in Rib Cruising.
