Blimey Phil, not only are you an Osprey support boat, but now Orwell trip boat

Looks like a good time was had by all. We're at the National watersports centre at the end of the month doing a similar thing. Two days of inflateable towing for the kids.

Martin

well its a bit different to the cruising I favour but it shows how you can have fun from the family point of view -my kids are no problem on the boat but they are not at all interested in sitting there for hours

Wayne , yes, gave you a wave -thats a very smart boat you have;just as well you didn't have 13 kids climbing over those tubes !

There just HAS to be a problem here - I mean they are having FUN and Tony B Liar has BANNED that along with almost everything else!!!

Seriously though are you actually ALLOWED to carry that many? I know they were safe - YOU know they were safe but that doesn't count for much these days!!!

Bloody hell - would have been great at Dunkirk - seriously though what European idiot could EVER think any 8m boat could be safe carrying that many people???

Given that there are 4 jockey seats and 1/2 on the suicide seat I assume people are meant to sit on the tubes -isn't that what the diver types do?

However for the trip out only my 13 and 14 year olds were allowed this privelege -the others were inside the boat

Is it safe? Well if I had capsized doing tight(ish) turns then no doubt a few questions would be asked. As skipper but more importantly as parent I have to assess the position and make a judgement -the buck stops here.

Actually sitting on the tubes seems SAFER than anything else!!!! Shaun Whyte who now runs Ocean Dynamics used to run high speed thrill rides around Tenby - once they had a capsize in really confused waters and all 14 people were thrown in - nobody was hurt!!!

http://www.maib.dft.gov.uk/cms_resou...ety_504204.pdf

Makes interesting reading - they couldn't really fault the way the trips were run and in particular praised the idea of giving all passengers canoeing helmets as well as lifejackets.
