Another Searider Refurb.
This is an ex MOD searider hull picked up from Monsieur Rogue for refurbishment.
For some bizzare reason someone had cut some holes in it but other than that it was in fair condition, nice straight sprayrails and a good solid transom.

Deck
The deck was kitted out with all the MOD gubbins, i have left the deck paint from around the console so that there is an option for bonding seats and consoles down.

I've used gelcoat on this, hand rolled and then flatted to 400 grit and buffed, i'll be fitting the tubes in the next week so i'll put some more pic's up.

Yes, perhaps they are gun ports, it would be great to have two little mini cannons, open the shutters and roll them out ....BOOM! .....'big hole in the side of a Gin palace!

I'd rather destroy one of those swines, who for the eleventy fourth billion time decides to tack just as I'm crossing his (or sometimes her) stern and then comes straight back for me at about 48,000 knots under sail with a look on their face like I've just insulted their mother. (you know what I mean if you've ever been out of chichester harbour on a sunday afternoon in August )...BOOM!
I'm off to hack a couple of 6 x 8" holes in mine now - just gotta get some cannons....hmm...ebay?

Refurb
You said that you used gelcoat...... which product exactly was it that you used, and did it need to be thinned or anything?
I need to do the same to my Tornado, and I'm just hoping to by-pass the research phase by stealing your ideas!

No problem, i used crystic topcoat with the orange pigment from Scott Bader, this is gel coat but in a thinner form capable of being sprayed on and you can get an excellent finish with it if you have the right conditions.
A few months ago i would have sprayed it on but too cold now and i don't have access to a paint shop.

For me it just looked dull, if it is intended for commercial use far enough, but for private us it was not very exciting!

Fair play, it's not one of mine. It looks like the brokerage part of the website is closed at the mo.
