Maiden voyage. I managed to find the shallowest launchsite on the planet just to make it as difficult as I could for myself!

Nice pictures.....

Richard and welcome to the Forum.

Yep, looks pretty shallow to me. Did you just push her away or get the sills wet.

Anyway, keep it up and with luck we might see you on the water some day.

Thank you.

I put a long rope on the trailer and marched it out another 30ft or so. (Believe it or not I didnt even know at that point that the rear roller assembly was able to tilt. I had only ever used bunker type trailers before.... and that was nearly 30 years ago when I was 10 years old! So I thought I would have to float it off)

Im learning slowly.

Richard -

That photo must be taken by the Run at Mudeford Quay.

Is the launch site also at Mudeford?

I thought I recognised the Head in the background.

Hi Jeremy

You are absolutely right. It was the first launch for the new boat and I choose Mudeford as it was somewhere I knew well, although I hadnt actually ever used the slipway and didnt realise that it would make things a bit more tricky for a beginner like me. It was also nice and quiet so I didnt have a huge audience to watch me screw it all up!

I will be trying to get back there a couple of times this coming season.

Rick

Your Boat

Hi,
Nice Boat and Car!! What X5 is it? I have had 2 X5s and have an avon seasport delux 4 metre with a 50 hp suzuki. My first X5 was a 3.od sport in sienna red with beige and my second which i have only had a couple of weeks is a new facelift 3.0d in olivin with beige nappa leather. I love the new headlamps. congrats on an excellent boat and car combination

Alistair

Thanks Alistair.
The X5 is two years old now and Im wondering what to replace it with, another X5 or something different. Its a 3.0D but not the Sport model and has been great for towing the boat. As for the Avon, thats not yet a year old and has had little use unfortunately. In fact it may well be turning up on the for sale section soon! My boys have given it a luke warm reception and although I love it Im not getting to use it nearly enough. I am looking at getting something much bigger which we can use for weekend cruising and which can be left on a pontoon ready to go without all the mucking about. I will miss the shear fun of the RIB however.

Hi Richard
very nice rib, yes can get very shallow, you may already know but watch out for large concrete pieces and stones on the approach to the slip when leaving the main run .(hopefully not there now but be aware). Have you thought of towing a doughnut it might change the boys view. great fun!
Alistair.
