Is that piece of floor laminated on both sides (sheathed top and bottom)

Or is it just ply with a dab of paint?

Looks like you now have the opertunity for recessed jerry can store.
Did that chunk of floor pull out with the weight of the fuel cans?
Looks a bit worrying to me, especially if it is double laminated. I thought Pac 22s were bulletproof.

Mark the decks are mahogany faced marine ply which is then screwed down on the four bearers rather than being glassed over like most ribs. I suppose over a period of 20 years water will have an effect but at least they are easy to replace by simply useing the existing piece as a template.

I am hoping Ian is going to rip the whole lot up and fit a cabin. If it works I might follow his example

Shame its half way through the season though, perhaps just replace the 4 x 4' deck piece until the winter. With a bit of luck the console will only need lifting a couple of inches to access the screws underneath it.

Still if you were going to put a deck hatch in this is just the place and look at all that room. I fitted a 600x 600 hatch that just touches the console and sits on the longitudinal on each side. I put the kids in there when they are being naughty.

a larger fuel tank with a gauge is going in so i don't have to carry spare fuel.
the guy who was in the other rib said he saw the cans go up then they were gone.
Yes the wood is still atached to the bottom with about a dozen screws and on there way down they took out another chunk.

Bulletproof they are but it was only the deck could have been worse and i realy need a bigger tank and storage.

Sorry mate, a cabin, i don't think so, i don't think i need any more weight, i don't need to sleep on the boat ( unless the wife kicks me out) but if i do i will have a sleeping bag and some bin bags.

Anyway what would have happened to the cups, plates, kettle and the teapot, the jerry cans are still in one peice.

a freind had an ali one fitted to his boat (hard) and it cost £600.
I have someone else who has offered to make one for me, to fit, i need one big enough to get my sandwiches in. Measured the hole 18 x 20 inches. might get a bag of crisps in as well.

Extra fuel tank...............for a diesel? Are you going TransAt or something? (OK, just an outboard owners joke)

They should be more economic than a custom tank. IMS stock St/St tanks as well.

the Pacific has only got a 20 gallon tank and no gauge, and a marina that closes the fuel pontoon at 6pm (very handy), that is the reason for extra fuel.
I have a nasty feeling when i go out that i will run out of fuel, if a pipe was to go i would not know until it stopped, but with a gauge you would have a bit of warning.
