Big Ribs - Scott & Erik

These are lying in Port Edgar Marina on the River Forth. Belong to BP and seem to be a form of tug as kitted out for towing/pushing. Deltas, twin screw but don't know much else as nobody around them, but look great. Registered in George Town, Cayman Islands.

They are 19metre delta's with twin 1000hp cats on jet drives.
They are designed to sit on davits on the rig support vessels in the north sea.

I wonder how much they are??

Particularly when they are compared against something like the new Tamar class lifeboat?? I wouldn't be surprised if the basic boat and including the R+D is cheaper than the Tamar class.

Nice boats though. Not to sure about the tube across the transom cause it looks a bit strange. (Now I'm just being picky!! )

Yes those restrictive regulations that say make you employ British officers and Crew? Dreadful over government if you ask me.

Yes but what happens in the REAL world??? They just register elsewhere. Maybe if they relaxed some of the regs just a little it would help?

That is a pretty impressive arrangement, I wonder what their launch and recovery limits are? That is a big chunk of boat to have swinging on davits in a seaway, especially if they are SAR for the rigs. I'd still like a go on one though!
