have seen that photo before, I would hate to have seen what happened to anything that wasn't tied down, most likely caused significant damage.

We've had that first pic over on boatmad a couple of times, the general opinion is that it's a 'Photoshop' job. Someone even posted a different pic of a completely different scene, that apeared to have the same tug, at the same angle/view etc.
The second one looks real enough.

Goto http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/news/ for some good pics of ships in rough weather.
This is a very good site, and people are regularly posting pics to it.

Not 100% sure, but I think Sammo's pic is of a boat owned by Marlon Brando (if that's not it, there was a very similar pic of it.) Story was that they were leaving somewhere on the Central Calif Coast (Morro Bay?) and got hit by a rogue wave as they crossed the bar. There was some (pretty weak) reason for leaving at that time; they ended up returning for repairs.

The first photo is legit.
I have the rest of the sequence as it goes over the top of the wave on my work computer.
I'll post them tomorrow if I get chance.

I know it's been posted before but to see how well a big RIB copes look at this video
http://www.boomeranger.fi/images/ind...conditions.mpg
Sea doesn't look THAT rough - until you see the supply vessel pounding through the waves - the RIB just skims across them!!!

Don't know what they are based on or if it's their own design. They are made in Finland and look very good boats.
