Cheeky Sea Lion

Was having a quiet day in San Diego bay when this Sea Lion decided to check me out. They are not usually this bold, but I think this one thought I had some fish on-board.
At one stage he was nosing the back tubes until I remembered what sharp teeth these things have and politely asked him to stop doing that
Made a good subject though ,enabling me to get off a few shots
cheers Dal

Limeydal,

Good photos. But where does the Sea Lion fit in the food chain where you live.

You got bigger fish !!!!!

Biggles,
the Sea Lions fit into the food chain, pretty near the top.Their main predator being sharks, especially the Great whites. However seems that the great Whites prefer the taste of surfers lately,so maybe why this Seal Lions feeling so "cocky"!

The Seal lions are a bit of a pest around here actually ,as they get used to following the sport fishing boats and delight in biting the bait right of your line.
Also we have made them feel right at home by building special beaches for them,so think they are here to stay,http://entertainment.signonsandiego.com/profile/91442

I remember being kept awake by them when trying to recover from a hangover one Sunday morning in the Monterey Plaza Hotel....

i remember in meva 2 or 3 years ago having a very large seal follow me around in the sib while out fishing at 7.00 am, i was thinking how lovely it was having him around until it dawned on me that while he was around i was catching ZERO. so i sped off to another patch and the bugger would keep following me. He hung around for 2-3 days and then went somewhere else. But it was great seeing a creature like that around the UK

Wonderful pics.....now if only we could get the seals to be so co-operative here when there are passengers on board!
