Clyde RIB Raid

Some piccies from today. Nice run in company up the river but we all got lost on the way back as we looked at various things on the way down.
Hopefully all are back home safe and sound lost track of everyone around the tall ship.
Viv must have had the dinner in the oven, we left just after them and couldn't catch up
Have a couple of shots of Riberty and Raven I can email if wanted, anybody got any decent shots of us?
Couple of funny bits-
Meeting Doug at Dumbarton where we all just about reached him and then turned around and ran back down river at full throttle as someone had stopped and I think we all thought there was a problem, bet you were wondering at the time where we were all going
We started to string out over a mile or two near Clydebank and I sarted throttling back to let everyone catch up. Everyone else started to slow down too
I think in a few months we might take a run up river at night, or at least when it is dark early enough to see the city lit up. might try and arrange somewhere to get eats, I am sure it is possible somewhere like the Campanile.
Hope everyone enjoyed it, I have wanted for years to get the RIB right up to the suspension bridge in the city

I was in Glasgow last weekend. First time ever.

Lovely city BUT I was very upset - none of what I thought Clydebank would be like is left. All poncy new buildings that will fall down in a few years time. Nothing that shouts - THIS IS GLASGOW!!! You could have been in Cardiff or Swansea or anywhere else where they think our industrial heritage is no longer important.

It looks like a boaters paradise though - and those sea lochs - no tides - sheltered waters - private slips - you could fish from the bottom of your garden - paradise!!!

There is plenty of old Glasgow left.
The parts built up with fancy flats are mostly on the old docks and industrial areas of the city that were disused. A fair number are built on warehouse and filled in dock sites.
If you go into the city or out to places like Cathcart or the west end you couldn't really be anywhere but Glasgow due to all the sandstone tenements and townhouses.
Lots of Clydebank was flattened during the war and the last yard (John Browns) shut a number of years ago and the site is now Clydebank college among other things.
I am not sure something that shouted "here is glasgow" would necessarily be such a good thing. Historically this would have been someone with a razor or asking "who are you looking at Jimmy?" just before sticking the heid on you. Things were not necessarily better back then.........

In order, L to R for our UK friends.. passing Langbank, The Finnieston crane, sadly its one of the last upper Clyde bits up superstructure left , The new bendy bridge, then under Glasgow Central Railway station .. above there, is about 10 different track lanes coming into the station lastly the lifting bridge behind the Normandy Hotel on the Cart
