I am tentatively, and I stress tentatively, considering the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Saw it in the metal for the first time at the Canary Wharf Motorexpo last week and it's quite simply awesome. Most importantly, it's a proper balls-out sports car, as opposed to the DB9 which is a tad soft for my taste. Would mean selling the RR and TVR, however, and I'm not sure I want to ........However, life is short, I have no dependants and my labrador deserves it

Can you tow an Avon Searider behind an Aston Martin? (Let me guess, a Mondeo towbar would probably fit, them being jumped up Fords ) Ackershally, many moons ago when I was in Ford's employ I recall the latest employee price list being published - 22.5% off Fords, 10% of Jags and 'discounts on Aston Martins may be available. Contact the company secretary for details.' Needless to say there were few AM's in the company car park!

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mate with the DB9 has already ordered one - very impressed!!! As you say far more of a proper sports car. Reslae should be a lot better as well.....
Mate has just brought is DB9 back from a spin to Monte Carlo - met the guy who runs Ultima on the ferry with his record breaking GTR - was sneakily impressed but maybe the Ultimas are just a little bit TOO raw for you???

Now that is what I would buy money no object!!!

Nice image, Alan, but I think not! Funny you should mention jumped-up Fords because I've just changed the Volvo for a Jag X-Type diesel estate (which can tow an Avon Searider ), and I'm pleasantly impressed with it. Wish I'd had a fiver for every person who tells me 'it's really a Mondeo you know', but that's the way today's automotive industry's going - common platforms all round = economies of scale = viable future for the manufacturers. Saab 9-3s are Vauxhall Vectras and Volvo V50s are Ford Focuses etc.etc....

Phil, do it! Fantastic car, different league to the DB9. The last V8 Vantage V600 type Le Mans car (Twin supercharged 600hp) is my dream car, but this new one comes a close second.
If you want to jump the waiting list gimme a shout (seriously)

Dan - you have a pm. I really think you need to have a serious word with your mate! Aston have had a Porker 911 on a comparative development test against the Vantage and I understand the Brit wet all over it in terms of ultimate cornering capability And that's even before we start discussing the looks, which I'm afraid our 30 year old German loses out on hands down! And then of course there's the issue of production volumes - Aston will be building 3,000 Vantages a year, Porsche are lashing out over 20,000 911s a year! Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention the exhaust note.....
