Excaliburs Can Fly
A friend of mine took these photos over the weekend in West Cork, it is an Excalibur 8.7 m wraparound cabin rib, he said they were doing around 45 knots coming off the wave.

Oh well that image really clears things up “cristal clear that is” how do you explain the propeller out of the water so much – do you think that the bow was being stuffed at the same time?

That does look kinda odd.....
There appears to be a noticable box around the under side of the boat in the sea?

I have no explanation for anything I merely meant that the fact that there seems to be some "sea in the sky" above and behind the boat. That, and the very repetitive (i.e. looks to be cloned) texture underneath the boat (not to mention the odd shaped hull which I hadn't noticed till it was mentioned) all suggests "photoshop" to me... perhaps it genuinely isn't but it does look like it, sorry, no offence meant

And if you look at the dark patch of sea about half way between the boat and the bottom of the frame in the full picture, it looks to be a double clone of the bit just to the left of that (look at the little hook shape on the bottom of the dark patch, quite distinctive but appears 3 times) ... and the thin dark cloud above the boat looks a bit iffy too.
Reckon the first photo is probably genuine though, which is impressive enough in its own right

Interesting. The jump looks genuine then, but half the boat is missing on the video by the time it gets to that height out of the water (where you can see the prop). I reckon somebody tried to make a photo of what it would have looked like if the camera had got the whole thing in shot, maybe cut and paste the image of the front of the boat out of an earlier frame onto the second shot and made the sea a bit longer underneath it.
Anyway I am being nitpicky, sorry its been one of those days. I'll shut up now....

Thanks Jon I looked at www.ribs.ie and I found it listed at the bottom of the home page it is the video listed as 8.7m Wraparound.wmv. I was beginning to doubt my friendship with that man in West Cork but looking at the video I do not have any doubts, even though I only see the propeller leaving the water there is a lot of time before you see the splash where the rib lands, isn’t technology great even though our eyes deceive us.

I don’t know Jon but I can understand why some people might doubt the photos, after all it is an incredible height for a boat of that size and from what I herd she weighs around 3 ton without fuel, looking at the video she looks very lively in the run up as well.
