Final score ,RIB 1 Jetski 0

Was out photographing Jetski's today (as no RIB's to practise on!)
and got a couple of good shots.
Then noticed one PWC taking off through the no wake zone at high speed
Seconds later the blue lights and sirens were going and the police RIB cut across him.
Usually they just write a ticket, but this guy either gave them abuse or had a few drinks .Anyway ,they tied his PWC to the RIB and towed him back to his trailer.
When will these guys learn to abide by the rules (and don't mess with Ribs)
especially Big Blue Police ones!!!!
cheers Dal

Nice pics and story, its a shame the local kent patrol boat doesn't hunt down our scummy jet ski offenders like our US cousins do.

I say shoot first and ask questions later

What exactly is so bad about jet skiers???

I have heard so many people moan about them - to the extent that they are almost banned in Swansea(unless in club) and the Police are now going to have a copper on a jetski in the summer(job for boys).

I realise that if they are going to mess about near swimmers they deserve all they get BUT having said that I have never seen them do it. In Swansea they tend to mess around in the same areas water skiers use(not at same time). They have been banned from there due to dangers to swimmers(none) but the waterskliers haven't!!!

A while ago they banned them from jumping over the barrage at the mouth of the Tawe in Swansea - because it was dangerous - the ONLY danger was to themselves.

And NO I do NOT have a jetski and never want one!!! Just don't like things being banned all the time!!!

Sorry, I know it's been posted before

Codprawn, if you are ever near Langstone Harbour and Southsea (east of the Solent) on a sunny Sunday you'll find why some of them aren't liked.

I suppose in busier areas they could be a pain if driven by idiots - which I suppose is the sort of person attracted to them!!!

Actually a lot of the regular jet skiers here do abide by the rules !! (keep to designated areas and obey speed markers)
What does amaze me is the Jet Ski rentals that cater to the foreign tourist. :
I watched the other week as two young Japanese ladies were let loose in the Bay after about 2 mins instruction. Basically switch on and turn the handlebars. I think they forgot the part about needing thrust to turn as she drifted around sideways and then in a series of lurching movement(Think this ski must have had a clutch )managed to throw her passenger off.
Seems as though they are not worried about letting beginners loose with high powered machines.
Just the rest of us have to give them a wide bearth!
Unless of course when they are cute and wearing thongs like these 2 ladies and being a gentelman ,offered assistance
cheers dal
