First pics of the 8.3m LEEWAY in action
We have just finished sea trials on our Leeway 8.3m she is doing 64 mph with a 225 optimax (needs bigger pitch prop for that little more top end speed) goes realy well and we are very happy
More pics to follow when we manage to get some better ones.

How much is the weight of that boat fully ready to navigate, without fuel?

The boat looks good, the only thing I didīt like on the pic is the style on the sofa.

yes i would say the rear bench seat should be dropped in favor of something better looking as they do look odd purched ontop of a fibreglass box like that
but it looks really good.....good luck with it

It DOES need the A frame to finish it off. Solid GRP ones look more stylish.

I think a grp arch would work well, take a look at this Medline the arch here is along the right lines, may even work out cheaper than a stainless double A frame. Looks good, apart from that, not sure about the rear bench..... bet it goes well with the Opti.

I'd agree with this.
The boat looks cracking Leeway and the performance sounds good too.
My only concern would be a lack of handholds for rear passengers on the bench seat.
Maybe a couple of hoops coming off the backrests on the rear pods?

Hello Leeway,Could you tell me what thouht has gone into the design of the tubes This is only an observation but they seem very short on the transome. As you will notice and perhaps know i have shakespeare 6.2 They have a choice of two designs of tubes but none so short unless their done by Olmec. The way the rib sits in the water would indicate it rides more like a boat and when anchored not benifit from the stability of most ribs.Did you find this to be so in your sea trials.

We have expressed that the next 8.3 has a slightly longer overhang as we did find them a little short. we have designed the tube hight to be an inch or two above the water line when at rest with no people on board to prevent them weeding up. but when she is loaded up with a little weight the tubes are on the water line to make her more stable.

Nice looking RIB Lee. Glad to see a few different models comming.
Just a couple of notes though (as there seems to be some critics) thought I'd join in.
1. Bench seat is too small, I recon that an intergrated well/storage/wrap around seat could easily be made by yourselves that would be bonded to the tubes and deck and would more suit a RIB of this size.
2. Yes an A frame or Fibreglass arch, I think if you had a swept back version the lack of tube overhang wouldn't be so noticable.
3. This RIB has quite a low freeboard (think the termology is correct). Wouldn't you think that having a nice long Stainless bow grab rail would look nice. (see editted photo (hope you don't mind ))
Keep up the good work.

yes a sexy stainless double arch or even better a really nice fibreglass one with lots of moulded in goodies like lights and speakers etc
drop the back seat that looks like it is out of a ford model T and go for a nice built in one like the cobras have and you will have a great looking boat i am sure
perhaps a slightly different style of seat back cushion on the jockeys and 3 point grab handles built onto the back rests would finish it off
looking good and wish you luck with it

The bench seat should look better in this style. And the backrest to. I can also say that the colour (white) is not the best, maybe grey or blue? A-frame in stanless steel, not MED grp.

Going against the grain here but I like the bench seat. I think that the full beam version just makes access to the buisness end that little bit more difficult.
