Fowey, summer 2012

Some snaps from Fowey last summer . . .

Now, I'm not generally one to covet things I can't have. But I want this house.

Yep, it's a corker. The Yamaha 15 has been relegated to second choice now!

Was talking to the house and boat owner last summer ... he came and moored next to us whilst we were lunching by the lifeboat just down river and as our boats started off similar, conversation started.

Whilst his mooring hanging from the side of the house is handy, sun, salt and seagulls have done their worst. Big time. And some. And some more

Thanks for all the comments

As the fortunate owner of house and boat, thought I would pop in and thank you for the comments.

The boat is a Ribcraft 5.3 with Honda 90. We have been very pleased with her, since we purchased her new in 2007.

The tubes are blue uppers with grey under. The blue has faded a little but the china clay dust from the nearby docks makes things look worse. A little rib "sun cream" does wonders. Despite the seagull in the photo we have very little problem with them. Ginkgo is much safer hanging up than being on a mooring, and her bottom stays cleaner!

The winch has been a great success and we can launch for around 75% of the tide. The boat runs up the vertical runners with a sacrificial plastic board as protection. The winch is in the basement and is out of the weather. The rib is lifted on dyneema running through very expensive Wichard Yacht blocks. The whole setup is rated at 10 tons! So is safe for lifting with crew aboard.

Looking forward to some warmer weather to push the boat out again!

Ginkgo
