Loyal Watcher was based in Liverpool and ran training trips to most parts of the British Isles, including Liverpool to St.Kilda, Scotland, in one non-stop passage!!! (Happy Days )
well ya certainly need BIG pockets for the BIG fuel tanks hehe

They will get through a fair bit of fuel - we have the Blackstone ERS4M on our tug, which is the same model engine as they use on a lot of the Ex Fleet Tenders. Although our engine is air start, there's an ex fleet tender in the dock which starts on battery when they're charged
They are very fine engines though and sound sweet when ticking over - the turbos are not cheap to fix when they go wrong.....
For our 30min run today, I guess I pumped about 20 litres into the header tank after use - that was only at half revs with minimal load though. We can carry 12 ton of diesel on board - I don't know what the fleet tenders carry though.

Dutch Rescue Rib
The Dutch coastguard has released some new video's:
http://www.knrmijmuiden.nl/index.php...d=19&Itemid=43
For a nice practise in rough water you should look at video: Oefening 08-01-06 and Oefening 18-12-05.
At the video you will see the vessel, Koos van Messel witch is a Arie Visser design:
The Arie Visser has 4 fuel tanks with gives the boat a fuel capacity of 6100liters.
The boat has a range of 16hours at WOT.
Weight: 28tons
Length 18,8m x 6,10m
Engine 2x1000pk (735kw)
Top-speed 35 knots
Capacity:120people
Crew: 6 personen

Quite a boat, I read something about it in Rib Intl recently, not sure I would like to go out in those conditions in anything else!

So 40 litres an hour? That's not bad by RIB standards but you are running on red - you can get it pretty cheap when you buy 12 tons!!!

Great boat and a great video - well it would be if you could watch it in a bigger screen or even better download it first. Considering most people have broadband - widescreen TVs - big monitors - fast computers etc etc WHY do people think it's ok to put videos on the net in tiny little windows???
It's not just the dutch coastguards of course - grrr.
Here is a great video of a similar Dutch RIB - great model - looks very realistic - video quality is better than many on YOUTUBE as well.
In fact it's actually the boat that can before the one you posted.

There is a possibility that the Koos van Messel is coming to the Ribex this year!

You're right, it should be possible to download the video's!
I also think that there should be more video's of rib's in rough conditions to find on the World Wide Web...
