Indestructable boat

This has got to be the best "tough boat" demo I have ever seen

Go to http://www.marinerevolution.co.uk/downloads.htm

about half way down the page in the movies is the clip of the Crash Test Dummies trying to sink a Mac 270.... I had heard about it and thought it was exaggerated

http://www.marinerevolution.co.uk/Articles/CTD_ISDN.wmv

also available as a smaller one or in Quicktime format.

Amazing - I'm impressed

Stephen, I presume, since we haven't heard any sagas of late, your Humber repair is working well.

So far so good...

Though it has only been out about four times since the "full sausage" went in, not the time of year for ribbing (cold!) and the Mrs has been finding things for me to do in her new house which fills much of the time

It has had a fairly good thumping around with no signs of any problems though, I am cautiously optimistic and if there are no signs of any problems by the end of next summer I will be chuffed

Is it full of foam cos when they cut it in half it had solid ends where the cut was (supposedly) made?

I noticed that too, I went back and looked at it on pause to check. I think the Macs (Max?) are foam filled in some parts of the pontoon sections anyway - bow and stern - but maybe that one was doctored slightly to make it floatier or maybe the small ones are completely foam filled.

Very tempted to buy a 270 just for a little tender and messing about with, I already have a 6hp motor for it albeit a long shaft, and it would do it good to have a bit more use...

Yeah yeah OK just cos you have a big shiny one

I like the thought of a Mac for landing on unknown or iffy beaches if I wanted to, I already have a nice scrape on the gelcoat from a conversation with an unseen rock...

My understanding from talking to the guys in dundee is that Macs are completely foam filled.

You were probably joking but you were quite close to the truth, this happened a couple of weeks ago:

http://www.mercopress.com/vernoticia...1&formato=HTML

Last time I was out in the RIB I went for a look at it, got within 100m or so and was keeping a careful eye out for floating green things!
