Sabrina, Keith (La Frette) and I went to Havre de Regneville yesterday on the high tide and met with James Duval the local ecologist and sailing instructor. Together, we continued upstream for about four miles to Pont de la Roque which was destroyed by allied bombing at the end of the Second World War. I have wanted to make this trip for a long time and in some ways it was every bit as desperate as Avranches or Pontaubault. Without James' expert navigation I doubt we would have got back out the estuary. As it was, we ran aground quite heavily on the return journey and I thought at that point I was going to have to get out and push. Anyway, here's the video; sorry for the poor quality:
Thanks for letting us tag along with you Paul. Although it was a rather early start we enjoyed the trip and your 'enthusiasm' for it all . It was also very good of James to spare us his Sunday morning and guide us through. Disappointing that your special fork was called into action, it would have made a good photo with you up to your waist in water digging up the river bed
