Lamlash ILB

Over on the Isle of Arran at the weekend. The weather was terrible.....the Atlantic 75 was on exercise off Holy Isle, then did one of the fast beach landings through the surf onto the trailer which was impressive. The photos are a bit dodgy, as they were on a mobile phone.

It was interesting to see how they set the boat up to go out again, bearing in mind it was facing the wrong way on the trailer. They got what looked like a giant trolley jack, jacked it up, spun it round by hand, then pushed the trailer back into place...hey presto! Simple but ingenious.

The wind was howling all day, and the main ferry was diverted to the Upper Clyde. There's a photo off Bute. It was V. Rough.

Hope to get on the water again this weekend.

Terrible weather? Wait till spring arrives...

Next time you're over, call in - we should have 'Cowal' back in a couple of weeks

One of the guys off the ILB lives in the village (yes, /that/ guy - wanna buy a used boat? ) - they decided that Whiting Bay was far enough, as the CGs were reporting gusts of F10 down here.

Great pics but to be honest it's like that at our harbour on a good day!!!

They launch the ILB in a similar fashion here - the way it looked this evening it would have scared anyone.
