Latest Redbay Boats Demonstrator

Every few years, someone (usually Gary) complains that the company demonstrator doesn't properly represent the range any more. New ideas and developments have come along so they build a new one - and the most recent iteration, Corryvreckan 1250-02, was doing joy rides on Saturday

I've been on maybe five Corryvreckans to date - the first I set foot on was 6m and the scale of this one is the thing that hit me - it's huge (The Donald would approve). Despite the designation 1250, it's probably more like 13m and has enough space for underdeck accommodation and storage. It is wide enough for three seats and an aisle. I don't really know enough about her to explain the systems onboard, but I took a lot of photos - which are far better!

Tom likes his onboard entertainment and comfort so the usual AV facilities are there, along with a decent galley and head but I was again struck by how prominently the safety/rescue equipment was stowed and how carefully the working lighting was planned.

Nice boat, they've certainly advanced, almost beyond recognition from the early days. Looking at that boat, the tubes seem not to be much more than a full length fender - nothing wrong with that, of course.

That's a Personal Mode of International Transport.

Funnily enough - a bloke down the road from HQ saw it on plans and ordered a facsimile - an exact replica. He just tours the family around in it. They are using a pair of Yanmar V8s in them and cruise at around 22-23kts burning 2L/Nm or thereabouts - which in the greater scheme of things isn't too shabby. I don't suppose the owners of these yokes sweat the fuel bill too much though....

Yeah, I noticed how tough it is for you guys over there when I was in Verbier a couple of weeks a go.

The Celtic tigger must be beginning to purr again?

Aye, it should be like a proper bankruptcy, you should have to pay your creditors before you start splashing the cash on frivolous frippery[emoji57]
Please mister, can we have our £6bn back?

C'mere Shylock - yer getting yer regular pound of flesh on that payday sub. IIRC correctly you borrowed the money from elsewhere and charged us a bit of extra interest for the privilege. The way I see it - we're doing you a favour holding on to it - you'd probably only spend it on cream teas or Trident II...
