Andy that Redbay looks awesome!!! What hp are the engines? What can you get top end? Won't bother to ask about fuel - red diesel cheap enough anyway!!! Just discovered my Dad's Sunseeker 68 will cost about the same to run with it's 2x 1200hp as a rib with 2x 250hp outboards!!!!

Redbay

She's a 1999 9.1m fitted with 2 Yamaha 370 Sti inboards @ 165hp each. This will push her on to 36 knots max and at 30 knots (cruising) I am burning about 3.5 gph per side. With 2 x 50 gallon fuel tanks this gives me a good range.
Electronic wise I have removed an Echo Pilot Forward Looking Sonar (or so it claimed to be!!) and fitted a Raymarine C80 c/w sounder module, she is also fitted with a Lowrance 3000 plotter/sounder, JRC Radar and an Icom M601 VHF with a Icom IcM1 Euro hand held.

Some pictures of the RIB I bought in England this spring. These are from a trip to the North Sea and back home via Rotterdam. Boat is from 1996 and engine 1997. I've put in extra seating and instruments. Auxiliary engine of 5 hp is inside at the front. There are two births inside. The yellow Osprey belongs to my friend.

Looks great Mark. It's an unusual set up. Is that a cabin in the area between the console and the bow? If so, what's it like? Even better - have you got any piccies?

Hi Louise, thanks for your reply. Months ago I was in contact with Richard (yours?) before I bought this RIB. Twice I traveled to Cornwall, first around Christmas last year to have a look and second in the spring of this year to bring her home to Holland. This is the only one ever made this way. The mould of the deck was destroid afterwards.I thinks this is a sistership of your Blue Ice. I made the decision after a study of your site and the answers of Richard.
I enjoy here tremendously. I post some more pics.

Louise, the space in the front is about 4 meters long, 1,70 m. wide and 0,9 m. high and 100% dry. These three pictures were taken before the changes were carried out.
I've put in a partly new dashboard, two beds I can take out and a two seat-bench in front of the "engine box". I also needed a new trailer as the English one couldn't get a license in Holland.

Trefor Williams's old Scorpion - he used to be cruising co-ordinator for BIBOA!

Hi Mark,

I remember you and I've just reread the e-mails we swapped. Glad to hear you are getting so much pleasure from the boat. The cabin design is very interesting. Presumably it was part of the development process of the current Scorpion cabin RIB? It would be great to see some pics of the modifications you have made (when you are able to get some!).

Edit: thanks for the info, ct01. Is Trefor still a RIB owner and BIBOA member?

Forward looking sonar only really works in shalllow water at very low speeds!!! Doesn't matter on a sub cos they are deep to start with!!!

Been out in any REALLY rough stuff??? Looks like my dream boat!!!

Indeed this is Trefor's Scorpion. He lives in Dubai at the moment. Charles in Jersey put up the adv. and Andy in Cornwall looked after the boat. It took a lot of time to get everything sorted out, but I'm glad I went through with it.
Louise I will put up some recent pictures a.s.a.p.
