17th May - River Tejo, Lisbon

Trip along river Tejo with a couple of friends.
Little Valiant never got past 40km/h. Dont know why.
I moved the fuel tank into the seat but I guess that had nothing to do with it. Porpoising was a bit less tough.
Cheers
Hugo

Here's my new boat:-)

I'll post some more photo's once I get it back out of the garage. I can't believe how hard it is to find somewhere to launch around the Liverpool area!

Nice I've been very impressed with my Valiant 570, the build quality is very good, and for a fairly shallow V hull , I'm amazed at the ride on mine . I have a bow locker though, that has 2 anchors and chain in it, and the inboard tank under the floor is well forward, I think the big tubes help too. I thought the v400 had a bow locker too ?,.. it will take a 40 maximum, but maybe its worth investigating a smaller prop or if the motor is set too deep ?

Left the wife on the seafront at Cowes to take a few snaps of us in our Ribeye.

Here are some of the ones where she managed to get us in focus

Hi All,
New to the forum, Just bought half a SR4 (well at least I think its an SR4) with my mate.

Took it out in Oxwich bay the other week, first day calm second a bit chopy. Hit the point between Oxwich and Port Inon on the choppy day, WOW it handles nicely in 4-5m waves

Thought I'd load up a few pictures of it in the state we got it from ebay and then put a few more up once weve given it a bit of TLC. Already spent a weekend tydying up the electrics and wiring up kill cord. Need to re do a repair on the hull where it's comming away.

Tony

Seems about right to me - 40kmh is about 25 mph which is about 22knts ?

I have a 4m Avon with a 50 on the back that 'only' manages 32knts/35mph/55Kmh ....

Still a great looking boat - something about smaller RIBs that just makes me smile

Yes I have a similar sized boat (slightly smaller and probably lighter) with a 20HP 2/str on it and I can just about do that speed (22 kts) on a flat calm day with a light load. Adjusting engine height, trim, prop etc. for optimum I might get it to 25 kts if I am really lucky. I keep meaning to do it but not sure its worth the effort!

I am afraid you have one thing in that pic that always really annoys me.........not sure why it does so much as I am more scottish nationalist than UK nationalist in outlook.

You are flying the Union flag upside down.........

On another tack I now have my boat on Humbers website http://www.humberboats.co.uk/destroyer.html in the Destroyer range which is a bit of a nice thought.......

Here’s mine with the new Suzuki DF90. Already put another speedometer in, the first one went up to 80 km/h but wasn’t enough .
Instead of a radio I had to make something to hold my beer can in, also important!
