Impressive... I still use a Nikonos III system, as well as a couple of Vs. Like you, I keep pondering a DSLR, but they're so much money, and so bulky...
This guy is a friend of mine and I keep hoping he'll have a cast-off for me at a very reasonable price one of these days. http://www.warrenlophotography.com/index2.htm
You might know this, but the talk in the housing world is that we aren't too far from being able to build a housing to suit different cameras, and all controls will be electronically controlled. I presume that mass production is the goal, which should bring the cost down...

Not quite a dolphin but it's still marine !!
The Loch Ness Monster. Seriously a monster, it's the ugliest bird I've ever seen !! It turned up in Loch Ness last month and is showing no signs of leaving. It's a Muskovy I think ?

Well, video rigs have been doing this for years. They use a industry standard (well, at least a multi-manufacturer standard) called LanC which allows electronic (serial, I think) control over things such as rec/stby, stop, exposure, white balance, focus, zoom; basically the whole gamut through a 4-conductor mini-D connector.
I could certainly see DSLR's going the same route.

I will play along too. I shot this one on Thanksgiving. Taken on the San Francisco Bay by Alcatraz.
