Yea, all the grab rails are fully covered in whipping then another spiral that you can see raised up then painted orange. It was like this when we bought her, the fact she was the MSG Pilot rib down in Gibralter might explain this to give the pilot a better grip?
My brother wanted to cut it off but I convinced him to keep it on.
