getting back to RIB scene
After owning RIBs and boats in the Middle East I am looking to move back to Wales (Penarth) and get back into the RIB scene. Toyed with the idea of bringing this boat back as it owes me nothing and will not raise a great deal of cash in Dubai. Tows well with a 4WD Dodge Durango with a 5.7L Hemi - certainly not bringing that back!

Here is my rig. It is a 7 meter Bollinger built for the US Navy and served in the Persian Gulf.
Now it will enjoy retirement as a recreational boat for diving and cruising back home in the USA.

It's not a RIB, nor a tow vehicle. Pic was taken by the ocean though.

The weight on your hitch/ball should be around 10% of the overall combined weight of trailer and Rib.
For safe towing purposes.

In which case my nose weight would be 190kg, the max nose weight for my vehicle is 150kg. My max tow weight is 2500kg which by your theory would put my nose weight at 250kg. Summat off with your calcs. Go with the manufacturers figures.

Im no expert, Every vehicle is different! as a rough guide though I was always told it should be somewhere in the region of 9-15%
I watched an old video on YouTube years ago about the affect of shifting the weight of a load forwards and backwards, a properly loaded trailer can make a huge difference

Absolutely, too light on the nose is a bad thing, too heavy & you'll lose steering on the tow vehicle. It's all about balance. But to use an arbitrary 10% is wrong. E.g. The towing capacity of a Disco is 3500kg, this would give a nose weight of 350kg by your theory. Off the top of my head I think the max nose weight for a disco is 175kg, but I'll stand corrected on that, I know it's not 350kg.
