I was very disappointed to see this thread languishing so far down the board so I thought it was time to share some of my latests rig photos.

The first one was on the M25 with my mates 3.0lt Sanyong Musso towing it. We caught up with the RN Bomb Disposal boat which looked very similar to the one they were towing. Serious panic on their faces when we went past...they must have assumed we nicked their boat!

Lets just say it's very slow with a non turbo diesel in the Sanyong but it gets you there and the second is with our Toyota Hilux up on Windermere at the Ferry Nab slipway.

I am sure I have some more photos on this hard drive somewhere!

How do you get away with having the blue light on? Surely thats breaking a few rules? Both navigation wise & impersonating a police officer type of thing. I know there not allowed on cars and vans etc

It has no meaning under IRPCS and we have permission to use it from the relevant harbour master under the bylaws that they control. Otherwise it stays off. We do swap it for a yellow lens if needed as well.

I only mention it as my pal has an old Morris 1000 police car which is used as a tv prop (heartbeat) and he has to remove the light when the car is on the road
Out of interest what do you do that needs a blue light?

I don't think I ever showed my "new" rig, although admittedly I've had it now more than 2 years...

I went from a Defender 110 TD5 to an L322 Range Rover 5.0 Supercharged, and it certainly tows the 9m Ribtec very nicely.

That is a big boat! How does it tow with the RR?

CJL - yes, even with fairly large vehicles like the 110 and L322, it's still always surprising how big the RIB looks behind them! I haven't yet done any longer distance towing of it behind the L322, but local trips around Poole and launching/recovery are effortless. The Defender was pretty good, but with the 5.0 Supercharged engine I don't notice anything on the back.

GuyC - very nice, I wouldn't want to be towing that one!

Just bought this off my Dad. Weve had it since 2005 Osprey 5.15 with a Yamaha 50 … Small bit underpowered but will do for the time being

Takacat 340 with a Lehr 9.9. Whole thing fits into the back of a Prius and I don't even have to take down the car seats.

First boat I've ever had -- Hollister Ranch later this summer whoo

Nice.

I've had my eye on the Takacat range for a few years now.

And the gas powered Lehr appeals as it would appear easier to store and carry the Gas canister than a tank full of fuel.

I've been looking out for T340 or 380LX on the used market for a while.

Nasher.

Ya I gave up looking for them on Craigslist. Only around $2k new.

The Lehr was kind of by accident. Was looking for any used 10HP and found this one for sale (by the former chief engineer of Lehr). It's essentially a Yamaha with a custom propane intake that Lehr developed.

I really like it. Starts easy and I can put the motor in the car without smelling like I spilled gasoline. Kind of bummed that propane isn't more popular.

It is good to see another Takacat owner here. Mine is a 300LX, with Suzuki 6 hp. I resisted going bigger boat/ engine combo, so that I could manage it solo.( Age and back issues!).
If I’d still been regularly having crew onboard, would have gone for same as you.
I hope you have fun with it.
