It's the Lowesoft air festival today and tomorrow. The Norwich branch of the Martime Volenteer Service of which I am a member was tasked to provide safety cover for the two day event off the Lowestoft coast. The boat we use is a 6m Avon Searider with twin 4-stroke 60hp bigfoot Mariner's.
We drove the boat down from Brundall near Norwich last week and left it at the RNLI south Broads station at Oulton Broad. The trip is about 25 miles and we did it in just under 2 hours, not bad given the speed limit is is less than 6mph
We took the RIB through Mutford Lock into Lake Lothing yesterday and then stored the boat (well boats actually becasue I took my RIB along too) in the marina in Lowesotft outter harbour. Today was spent by them doing the 10 hour patrol and me having a 2 hour play with some other RIBs becasue the planes were impossible to see due to the low cloud!
Anyway, here are the pics:
First two are us in the lock. Second 2 are of the North Sea safety center training facility in Lock Lothing.
Ps sorry for the low quality of the photos; somehting seems to have gone wrong when resizing them
