Or you could use any empty screw top container with a handle to put a line through. Put a small amount of water in it, it will still float and off you go. Used this method for shore rescue of tired divers tow em in all is good and cheap as chips 😄

I carry one of these when out and about on safety events - best thing on the market for throwing and re stow.

Mr Wilk, Are you cheered up by the event of actually finding one, or your subsequent actions?
If the latter please, share your imagined operating procedure so we can all learn

Having been a WAFI for quite a few years before buying a RIB, I'd have to say that my general experience of safety equipment carried by many EAFI's (if that is an appropriate abbreviation) amounted to sunglasses and a spare bottle opener.
I don't carry a lifebuoy and always planned on dispensing fenders to those in need of some support. I've yet to have to put it to the test though.

I hate those life rings too, but the powers that be deem them a necessity.
UV damage is a real concern and a spare bottle opener is only second in importance to a spare bottle. I generally carry a Mars Bar too for stricken jetskiers*

Well, I have two perrybouys. So in my fantasy there are two WAFIs adrift, pretty much beside each other and about 10m away. In reality I'm resigned to there being only one. But I'm a terrible shot so I've doubled my chances...

What a great day to pick her up and start running the engine in!
At Yeovil for 0900, handover, etc....Portland by 1145, boat rigged, and on pontoon before 1245....3 hours in glorious sunshine:- 2hrs pootling about within the harbour, wlth everyone getting the feel, and getting hang of electronics then an hour on the plane at 20kts 3900-4000 revs outside.
Long tow home though!

Saw you at the slipway, hope those Americans with the Ski boat comic capers launch didn't catch your tubes reversing in to you
I spoke to you at the top of the slip. Lovely rib. Couldn't have picked a better day.

Hi Pete,
Yes good to meet you too - nice SR.
No, as you can imagine I was very quick to fend off the ski-boat before it touched my pristine tubes .
To be fair I think they had a bit of a steering problem......The lady helming and getting an earful from (I guess her partner) on the pontoon got her own back as, when they were recovering he couldn't steer the boat astern to line it up on the trailer, and she felt rather vindicated!
Anyway lovely day back on the water.

Nice looking RC585 And I too admired it at the boat show. I hope you have as much enjoyment and fun as I have had.

Being on the starboard side of the boat also means that that you have a clearer view to starboard when you are the give way boat.
I'll stop hijacking the thread and I hope you've had more opportunity to run the boat in during the pleasant weather we've had this weekend.

Thanks, got out from Brixham yesterday with Mhb100 kindly crewing- it was rather fresh, blowing ENE into the bay and still pretty lumpy from the high winds earlier in the week. Very lively off Berry Head.
Still good the get the feel of her in rougher conditions - she handled very well and is a very dry, comfortable boat.
Also got to meet Mr Psycho on the slip at Brixham - always nice to meet another Ribnetter and put a face to the name, so good day

Bob, thanks for the blast around the bay in the RC585. first time in one, and massively impressed by it. I didn't get any photos on route as I was holding on with both hands most of the time

Can I ask what the thing is at the base of the all round white light - I'm assuming it is an aerial / receiver for something.

Looks like a Standard Tri-Lens radar reflector. Nice bit of kit:
