Stunning and still a proper RIB!!! Is it self righting??? Maybe not as the superstructure isn't boxy enough.

Hi, it wasn't designed to be self righting, however the cabin is very well sealed and we are doing calculations now to see if it could possibly self right.
Or by how much we would need to raise the cockpit???? it's something we are working on ;-)

what are the relative benefits of forward (as on your smaller cabin ribs) and backward sloping (as on this) windscreens?

unusual nav light combination ? were you just testing them?

Yeah, i think all lights where almost on at that time... it was part of the test.. we had anything that drains power on all through the test to check the power efficiency of the batteries.... and also just to make sure eveRything Works. All the nav lights installed are according to COLREG.

sorry missed the part about the windscreens.

The main reason for using the forward slanting windscreen on our 9 and 10 metre RIB was that on a smaller cabin boat it gives much better visibility and makes it much more comfortable in the relatively "small" wheelhouse" . It is a very good solution for boats of that size. The downside of a front slanting screen is aerodynamics, it probably slows the boat down, but we are only talking of about 2-3 knots.

On the big boat we have plenty of room and very good 360 degree visibility hence we didn't need to make the cabin feel larger for comfort. So the aerodynamics factor took over. Plus on a 15m Cabin Rib it just looked sexier aswell ;-)

The problem with most passive self righting boats is that the superstructure is so tall and boxy it makes them more likely to roll over in the first place!!! Think of one of those kids toys - their slogan was - "weebles wobble but they don't fall down" - that sums up the roll on most lifeboats perfectly..........

Cheers Biff, would be good as the next demo rib but have gone for something different -

well both interceptors are in bulgaria..... however we cannot sail from varna because in Burgas it's a force 12....??? and the port is closed... you would never belive it looking at the photos from Varna just 60 miles away. ;-)
