Drove the Brig Today

Drove the brig today. AWESOME

It was windy with the seas at about 4 ft with rollers. No problem offshore. The Honda engine is so quiet I had to keep checking to make sure the thing was running. Honda controls work great.

Built well. Boat is stiff. Stiff console. Great handling. Good hand holds. Dry. No running lights, though.

Boat has a lot of juice and going into the seas on the way back we were rocking. Im gonna run it next to a jet ski with a speedo to get a SOG. Couldnt read the GPS since were bashing about so much and had to hold on.

rib scene St. Croix

Sorry Phil, there is no rib scene here in St. Croix. And not many boats to hire either. In fact, there are no boat rentals on St. Croix.

In St. Thomas, about 36 nm north, there are several places to rent boats from. Mostly single or twin outboard Fountains or similar hardbody center console craft 24-30ft. It is expensive at more than $400 perday (day being about 4 hours). St. Thomas is less than a mile from the BVI however.

St. Croix is kind of remote, relatively speaking. Theres not much near by. Our sailing and boating is always offshore. Christainsted Harbor, our main town, is one of two locations where charter boats are forbiden to navigate in the Eatsern Caribbean, due to the compelxity of the reef system.

For hired boating take the trip to STT via seaplane ($130) and then rent a boat for the BVI.

Good luck
Joe
