New boat

Wondered if anyone might like to see our new boat? We went for a ride up the River Ouse through York during Ascot week. The quietest place to be - apart from the police patrolling Bishopthorpe Palace where the Queen was staying! We were stopped and searched by an officer in a small inflatable, before we were allowed on our way. The policeman on the bank in the Palace grounds was armed. Very unnerving!

I would find it far more unnerving if our policemen were unarmed !

Too right!!!

It is disgracefull the way they are sneekily arming the British police - our coppers are looking more and more like a paramilitary force - good old Tony Blair!!!

Since 1984 guess how many Police officers have been killed by guns in the UK - 3 - yes 3 - not exactly enough to justify more and more carrying of guns.

Oh yes you see the "firearms" incidents on the rise - until you realise that they now classify arresting a kid with a waterpistol a "firearms incident"!!!

I was horrified to see 2 coppers in Swansea wandering around with guns on their hips like in the USA. Yes they were firearms officers but they USED to have to keep their guns in locked cabinets in their vehicles until REALLY needed - not wander around Tesco with them.

it is hard for your average yob in Swansea to get a gun - or was until coppers started waving them about!!! In fact a few weeks ago there was a disturbance in a local nightclub and the armed officers were first on the scene - they quite rightly refused to go in as there was to much danger of having their guns nicked in the "ruck"!!!

Even copper friends of mine agree that Tony blair is going way too far and turning this country into a Police state - and this is from the guy who actually OPPOSED new anti terror laws when the IRA actually tried to mortat bomb downing street - seems he has just only now discovered the "war on terror"!!!
