New boat big miles

If it is, thats the pontoon I was bashing with a 38 foot Benetau last week. It certainly looks familier.

Any chance you could show some pics of the name plate and give details of how its made.
As you can see I have the same boat as you and would like to put the boats name on, tight as I am I'm trying to avoid spending the £170 that RIBCRAFT want for their version and thats without labour added.

Also have you got any details of the light you have attached to the A Frame. Is it a marine one and how much, Please.

Biggles, I had this light on my old rib and it was the best I could find so went for the same again it's Aquasignal, mentioned to ribcraft who sourced it for me.

The company who did the name - www.wild-graphics.co.uk they send it in a roll you clean the area and stick it on, the size I went for was 150 mm high which worked out well the web site is very informative..

Really is a nice looking boat.... Can't wait to see it in action but I doubt I'll be able to keep up with you once you open that throttle, especially with the new prop :-)

Just a few suggestions: dock lines laying tight across the tubes will produce wear with no chaffing protection, always tie to the lowest strong point on the boat, always use fenders and spring lines. Did not mean to be critical but I hate to see a nice boat like that damaged when some idiot comes by producing a large wake or the weather blows up in your absence. Congrats. on the new boat.

All valid points I never thought of, the tight lines are going to two fenders (which are too big but all I had) I am looking into buying the flat ones which are curved like the tubes..

Not trying to start an argument here but did you actually look at the photos?

1. Dock lines laying tight across the tubes. The dock lines in the pic are slack and although touching the tubes don't transfer any force to the tube.
2. Always use fenders thats what the sausage shaped things are between the tube and the pontoon.

Knowing where this boat was left on what was obviously a calm day (and as mentioned elsewhere - it was just for lunch) - I don't really think there is an issue. I don't think I have ever seen/met anyone who would have tied up a boat this size there with springs just to go to lunch on a day like that.

As a more meaningful discussion - why tie to a low point on the boat? does that matter if tieing to a wall where the anchorage is higher than the boat or a pontoon - where it may be lower than the tube (and so the rope is under "tension" across the tube)?

The 23" prop arrived today so with 4 adults 100ltrs left in the tank 25kg aux on the stern = 45.1 knots..@5,800 also the throttle is much smoother not like a switch, so very happy.
