Now the dull stuff - these first two pictures show the fuel delivery and tank breather hoses exiting the deck in an area beneath where the console will eventually be fitted - note the raised moulded collars which helps to eliminate back flooding of the tank space. The second one is for steering, control cables and electrical looms to enter the underfloor services conduit.
The two circular holes on the centreline are where the rebated removable inspection plates will go, the forward one will permit access to fuel filler & breather hose connections and also the deck filler electrical bonding connection (to prevent static sparks between pump nozzle and filler). The aft one accesses the tank sender and pick up pipe - the tank also has a removable inspection plate to facilitate cleaning of the tank in the unfortunate circumstance of getting a batch of contaminated fuel etc.
The large rectangular hole is the access to an underfloor locker which will be accessed through the front of the console.

The breather isn't my favourite item on our RIB, not a fan of petrol fumes
It's located on the console just by the navigator's's seat

Interesting comment from Louise about the common practice of simply venting fuel tanks out of the console - obviously the easiest solution - BUT not the best, or only one!

We will look in to the feasibiity of routing this one to the transom sump via our underdeck service conduit.

A particular interest of mine. Didn't think I'd notice petrol fumes on an open boat!!!

I would be interested to know if anyone else has routed their vent pipe back down the under deck tubing and fixed the vent somewhere near the rear of the boat. I have two transom boxs which could be perfect for a vent but they do tend to get wet i suspect so not sure if this would be ok or not

will be interested to hear anyones views as i hate the idea of fuel and vapours venting into the middle of a boat!

Wouldn't you have to take the breather quite a bit higher than the fuel tank to stop fuel from spilling out. Surly if you take the breather to the back of the boat and the fuel tank is located forward the breather would be lower or just too low....Wouldn't it! With a full tank and rough conditions could this be a problem?

perhaps i could be quite flash and route it up the inside of the a frame and have the vent on the top of the a frame

I thought about that as one solution Chris!

Also thought about back of seats as we have high-backed jockeys?

Alternatively, I'll just grow to love the fragrance as Andy suggested as it could be too difficult now to ren a heavy duty hose to the back of the boat...

How about a clothes peg, your nose might resemble that of a synchronised swimmers after a while , but you wil not be able to smell the petrol fumes.

Kathleen - due to my Ahlziemers kicking in I had forgotten that we already have solved this problem years ago! If you like I will post you a picture and explanation? Might even be able to retro fit to your boat, without costing the earth !!!
