Nah, the 'orrible old Flatacraft will handle much better than a pallet, even a pallet powered by an Opti 150

Instruments

Cut holes in dash and start installing the (very impressive) Mercury SmartCraft gauges, VHF, GPS etc. etc.

Decided to make yellow bevels for all the instruments since that'll look nice (i hope)

10 hours - i think haven't got that far into the big bible that is bedtime reading... more concerned with instrument wiring at the moment... who would have thought an engine would have NMEA in and out!!!

Have gone for a 21" stainless laser II which has not turned up yet. I hope this will give me almost 60mph and still be OK with 5 bums on seats. I've got a 19" on stand-by if there's not enough grunt for waykeboarding and skiing etc.

Your boat looks similar size / engine, what prop are you running and other specs?

I'm running a 21" Titan HR prop from Steel Developments, or I will be when I fit the thing for the 2nd time this week.... there were some vibrations coming from it above the 5000rev mark unfortunately, so it had to go back to be fixed.

I reached 49.9mph according to the GPS when it was on last time - with 1 person on board.... 2 people drops it to around 47mph top speed, pile the people on one by one and that keeps going down and down

At least you *should* get some fine crisp winter days to run the thing in slowly with

Interesting Alex - sounds nice and quick!

Have you tried this, i'm lead to beleive 10% slip is "average". http://go-fast.com/Prop_Slip_Calculator.htm

With 5750RPM and 21" and 1.87:1 gear ratio and 10% slip i get... 55 (don't know if thats knts or mph... either will do)

Cheers Gavin. To start with kosha Merc Opti oil, i'll see how much it's costing and review it. I know wavehumper is trying to offload 25li of the stuff at a fair price.

Got another few hours on the boat today, VHF, poweroutlets and waterproof switches are in dash now and aeriel on A-Frame and a few wires routed.

Tommorow will involve more head scratching over wiring for smatgagues and trying to get a 130AH battery inside the colsole!

Watch this space... more pic's tommorow evening!
