Out and about in Pembrokeshire

Weather's been fab the past few days, so I haven't let the boat stay under the cover, and have ended up venturing out and about to various places. Starting with yesterday (this is going to go backwards cos the computer's still processing Wednesdays video...), we went out to Skomer for lunch. We were the *only* rib out there which was staggering.
1st pic - Down river at 30knots.
2nd pic - The rag and stick lot try to get some shade off a passing tanker.
3rd pic - Ok, fine, 32knots.
4th pic - South Haven, Skomer with the people that beat us there. Thankfully we passed around 10 other sailing boats headed to the same direction on the way in - without the wind, they couldn't keep up

And now the video(s). The bullet cam has been great recently, getting some good footage from the a-frame. I have encoded the video 3 times to various qualities.....

http://videos.ribseadrive.co.uk/crui...6_surround.wmv - Surround Sound 5.1 version @ 2mbps (109meg)

http://videos.ribseadrive.co.uk/crui...6-06_large.wmv - 2 channel stereo version @ 768kbps (37.4meg)

http://videos.ribseadrive.co.uk/crui...6-06_small.wmv - 2 channel stereo version @ 320kbps (16.9meg) (this is not 640x480res)

Will post again when the rest are completed.

Yeah, maybe 20 metres or so I'd guess - not far. No horns fired though, so I assume the master was happy on the tanker.

Looks as good as it was this evening, lovely sunset tonight and no other boats to spoil it, pictures to follow.
South haven looked at bit crowded, long haul home for the yachties...

Wednesday 31-05-06 Pictures / Video

Yeah, it was a lot quieter when we were there on Wednesday. You missed a good trip Peter, ended up round by Newgale in the end, returning around 1800hrs.

Pictures:-
1: Parked on the pontoon at Dale while having lunch.
2: South Haven Skomer, nice and calm in here.
3: Broad Haven
4: Little Haven
5: Looking past Skomer and out to Grassholm.

We would have gone out to Grassholm, but the wind was stronger than forecast, and it was like winter temperatures!! Also, since the people who were with me hadn't been out of the river before, I wasn't going to risk any illness.....
