It is an Ulman Tandem Consol!! You impressed me didn't think that any one knew about that one
Is just something I found on a site brousing the net for RIB/racing boat racing gear. As a matter fo fact those photos were the onlt photos of the site (crap site in so many words). But I thought that they look like an interesting consept!! I have not managed to find the actual Ulman site yet.
If any one knows info much apprecited!!

Yes they are the Ullman seats.
I tried them out and considered them for Cyanide.
Eventually rejected them for the following two major reasons:
1. They cost about $1000 each. That is just the bit you sit on. The seat mounting boxes etc. were on top of that. (And I am talking only about the seat here. The full Ullman concept involves the handle-bar type steering/gears/throttle controls as well).
2. At that time, although the concept (riding a horse) is brilliant, and certainly works. In practise the seats were very hard on your btm.
Very much like riding a very bony horse (no unpleasant jokes please!). Going over waves gives you great stability and I am sure is very good for your back-but all that squeezing hard with your knees!! I couldn't stand it for more that10/20mins. I guess if you were a very experienced horse rider, used to long hours in the saddle and with back, side and stomach muscles to match, you would probably be tempted.

Thanks for the Info Brian.
Toooo expenssive if you consider that in SAfrica custom made high quality bucket seats cost about 100 pounds!!
Any way and now for the joke

The closest relative to a horse I've been on was a mule. Does this count for endurance?? LOLOL

Ullman Jokey Seats Evaluation
I think this is the site that describes what these seats are and do
http://www.onr.navy.mil/sci_tech/oce...1/oe3peter.pdf
You need to have ACROBAT READER to see it

Ulman seats
better pic of aforementioned seats
why anyone would pay 1000 quid for one I dont know ?
with all the engineering know how on this site, making a simple jockey seat with similar type suspension would be a doddle for someone
a simple design of a parallel hinging wishbone and a light suspension shock / spring unit would do the job
I am very surprised that nobody has not already started to produce such a simpler cheaper seat
It would appear a good solution to the age old bashing you experience in a speedboat or rib
Manos Another marketing opportunity for you !!!
(looking at the design below it would appear to hinge at the front bracket and move against the shock at rear, with a wishbone design the seat would move up and down in a level plane )

matiboy
these seats look OK but what are they like when you are on the way??
1000 pounds is nothing compared to what Fabio Buzzi charges for hies seats (I think 3000 or 4000 pounds each) or am I worng.
Jon F (Fabios fun) may correct me here.
Il Jon F per favore la risposta a questo nell'italiano. La speranza giusta che JK non bada a un po'di lingua di desperando LOLOL

looking at all
the graphs on the Ullman website, I am sure they are absolutely superb to use
Imagine driving a car down a bumpy road with no suspension, thats what we do in our boats
I really do think boat designs need to catch up with current technology eg : major manufacturers still using neolithic chevy engined units
Gearboxes have been around in cars , why not boat outlegs ?
Can guarantee one thing Ullman seats are easier on your back than on your wallet !

For a recreational RIB or say rescue RIB must be OK. However, for a racing RIB where you need to have the Center of Gravity as LOW as poss I think they are a bit bulky.
Any way hopefully Mr ULLMAN may let us test some. See how they DO
Dream on Manos, dream on LOLOL
