Rare meeting of RIBnet California

Not very often us USA West Coast members manage to get together
So I was out quietly photographing the Coast Guard Cutters ,when a nippy little RIb sped over and hailed me
Seems Boatster was working in San Diego and was just a matter of time before we ran into each other.
Great to see you out there and hope next time we can chat longer(had to chase the USCG cutter "Chase" and earn my gas money )
Sorry Point Loma wasn't breaking for you; flatest i've seen it in ages
cheers Dal

Don't listen to 'em Boatster!

Have you seen the way these Brits are dressed in their pictures??? Full drysuits, 4 layers of fleece underneath, wellies & wool caps... They're just jealous that you're wearing shorts and a t-shirt and NEED a cap with a brim to keep the strong sun off yourself. We know it's always cold and rainy in the UK!

Well actually, I've visted Cowes for a week, and it was sunny for a day.

Hi Pop, think you are confused
Boatsters the young local surfer dude in the first shots. Dont think he came from the "Home country"
I'm the old ex Brit with the slightly "brighter" RIB ,posted below to show the differance.
Boatster, you only have to buy photos if you dont have a RIB. So let me know what file size and will upload them.
Oh, and POP ;posted a photo of your neighbours down here at the bait barge they are waiting to give you a seranade
When are you in town again?? Boatster will let you borrow his boating hat
cheers Dal

Lol.

Looks like our friend on the right might file for sexual harassment.

I just pulled the auction for the hat. Too many cheap bastards here. I'm going to keep wearing my flower pot hat in spite of the jokes.

Pop,
lots of wildlife photos; will dig some out for you.
And Kelp Sucks
Hate the stuff Great for diving and some terrific sites. We have a school of giant Black Sea Bass spawning at La Jolla kelp for the first time in years Made the TV news and was a great sight to see.

But for boating;still sucks.!!
A while back a hardboater tried to cut across the kelp beds and got stuck.I tried to manouver through and tow him out, but I overheated several times. Those flat fronds just do a great job of sealing the water intakes. Then that stuffs like damn rope. Took quite a few attempts to get him out.
Won't be going there again
Would like to get some surf photos at the break at Point Loma ,but always worried about the kelp thats broken away and drifting out there(as well as the lobster pot lines!! )
cheers Dal

thanks mate great pics.

i know what you saying about the intakes when we arrived we came from cabo san lucas through a set of islands about 10nm to the south of the main harbour entrance then just the other side of the boarder all the kelp strarts. Quite hard to find a clear area when you draw 4m and there is a huge warship pushing you so far over you are kiss the marks.

There is some great fishing boats in harour island mind you when i was in carbo the boss had his marlin boat there it was a good week tuna fishing
