RibNet get together

Hi Everybody!

It was great to meet you all and put a face to a name. Wiesia and I enjoyed ourselves very much. A big thank you to Jelly and Tiger for joining us on Seahawk and showing the sights.

Here are a few photos and for those who couldn't make it I am sure you now regret but then there will always be another time.

Andre

That first picture of Keith is great, he just looks like he's having the time of his life. You can just see him thinking "I don't care if your boat is bigger! Mine's lighter, faster, cheaper to run and loads more bloody fun!". You've made me want a SIB NOW Keith. Should still have one sorted by Orkney, but if I don't and I end up crewing with someone, I want at least one go on Quicksilver!

The pics look great Andre, looks like you had reasonable weather for it too. Shame I wasn't able to attend, maybe next time.

Matt

Thanks

A fantastic weekend - A big thanks to Charles and Brian who did a lot of the planning.

A few of us met up along the way. "Bob" (www.yellowrib.co.uk) I think travelled the furthest starting from Exmouth, he then joined up with Panther, Cyanide, Awsome at Torbay/Brixham and we headed down towards Plymouth. The weather was awfull! - As we launched at Brixham we got absolutely soaked! - but as we set off the rain stopped - but the seas stayed!. The big ribs, Cyanide and Awsome had no problem bashing through the surf, but for BOB and Panther the going was a little slower and a bit more bumpy! Even though these big ribs were close they kept disappearing behind a wave and in a trough! Anyway we all battled down the coast being joined by a racing Rib-eye Rib at Salcome.

I think the 40nm or so took us about 3 hours and we arrived in Plymouth about 1 - Time for lunch!!

After lunch we did a spot of sightseeing up the river (and worring the armed police launches guarding the Navy ships) - there were about 15 of us I think.

Here's a sample of the trip - I will post more tomorrow - (if my broadband is working then )

Anyway - Thanks again Brian and Charles, and everybody else that made the weekend what ribbing is all about - fun!!

the blue cabin rib is Billy Furgeson's one and only.Check out boats and outboards for sale.Very nice boat indeed.I don't think the guy's at bannanashark racing will take too kindly to their boat being called a ribeye.Have a look at their website for more info and pic's of this amazing boat.
I was on the blue cabin rib when everyone was heading out to the breakwater,we stopped to look back at all the boats and all i could see and hear was the bannanashark flying past us.I reckon around 70mph,the only bit of the boat in the water was the gearbox and prop.Nice one Kevin!

Cookee drives it faster and harder than I do. That is a sight to see in the rough. If you liked that, why not come to Torquay w/end after next and see the racing?

It was a disappointment that Alan Priddy could not make it we were very much looking forward to seeing the slide show of the Round the World trip of the Spirit of Cardiff.

Alan, as you can see from the photo Charles did read your letter to us and much beer was drunk afterwards

Charles it was a great meeting and I am sure those who came did not regret coming. We had a good time and that compensated for the 550 mile towing to Plymouth and back

Keith did take the SIB race very seriously and was not afraid to take on the ribs. Bob's crew did not even see him coming

And now "Bob" has been left behind. More attention to the race guys and less photo opportunities.
