Nice to see you here.
I have been thinking about seting up the cam on the A-Frame of the boat. But cannot see how it can be done and not to lose it.
Yours looks secure on the console SS frame.
Any ideas how is doen are very welcome

I will tell you one thing that works.
I have a Sony Handycam underwater housing.
I took off the lead base weights and pistol-grip handles which are obviously not required if you are not diving. This left the basic waterproof barrel of the housing.
I put my current video inside and strapped the assembly to sling BELOW the A-frame. The straps I used were normal thin adjustable types. I used two of them to give an "infallable" grip.
The camera was lined up to point ahead of the boat at a reasonable distance and then operated (film/pause/stop/rewing etc.) by means of a credit sized remote control that was supplied with the camera. Thus you can helm and film single-handed.
The video footage is surprisingly "forgiving" in that it doesn't shake as much as you think it might.
I used this system to film Mr. Priddy and co. off Start Point when they crossed the Atlantic in "Spirit" the last time.
The footage of the whole crew mooning at the camera will doubtless provide me with a decent income in my later years.

Thanks Brian. Is a similar procedure that I had in mind. However I was thinking to starp the housing (is an Ikelite for a Canon MV700) under the top of the A-frame rather than the top and was worried about the hopusing hitting the frame and what type of foam to put on or may be I can weld some short of SS frame that will hold the cam. Unfortunately the MV700 does not have a remore control. so everything will be done manually. I also have a Sony with an underwater yellow housing but is not a digi cam. Bought ti in Singapore a few years ago and never used it. May be I will use this one for starters see how it goes.

I'm surprised that this works as we tried to video a skiing session from the boat once and found it was almost impossible to keep the skier in the frame.
This was with a fairly new Sony camera that has an image stabilizer option.

Could it be it works for you as your boats are bigger and so give a smoother ride ?

Well not that smooth

but it may work. Will have to try it when we are in Greece for a weeks hols next week.

For to install the videocam or photocam on the ss-frame, I have used a support for install removeble lamp on ss-frame ( picture a).
Than I have buy a support for reflex-flash.
I have found one in alluminuim but in plastic is good too because you need the special screw which is used with the cam.
Now you need an allu-bar and make on it 2 holes
One for camera screw and the second for lamp-support screw.
If you want you can do 2 holes for 2 lamp support, it will be more stable.
In a few minuts you can remove your support and put it on every frame of your Rib.
I attached some photos who show the the frame where I put on my camera ( see the arrows).
I think is better to use a small and light videocam( best with underwater case).
There are no problem for image stabilizer, only when you start the engine can transmit hard vibration at the frame for few second ( so better 2 support).
During the cruise ( fast or slow ), the image is stable, only when you jump is possible one oscillation.

Very nice. Question I see that you mounted the camera on it. you say that you can use a light video cam. I suppose if you were to make the bar from Steinless Steel It would be possible to put a video camera with a waterproof housing too. I suggest this because the video cam with the housing weight is quite a bit. I am just thinking that with the vibrations the supposrt you show may snap or bend the aluminum bracket.

and I think the more you search the cheaper it becomes.

But I think Luigi's suggestion is cheaper and better option if you just want this just for taking some fun shots.

It dosen't snap or bend but when you cross the wave with higt speed, the alluminuim bracket have oscillation .
So I think to do one with 2 support and a new bracket design where the cam is in the middle.

Yes thought I recognised it. Bu the way Luigi I've got this frmae that you can mount the video cam and have different angles. Will email you a photo of it.
