Round Bute Sailing Race

Not ribbing, but boat related, here is a video I took/put together for the Round Bute sailing race yesterday.

It took place the same day as the SIB Gathering, and I had my eyes peeled for the guys...but didn't see them. We even popped over to Largs at lunchtime...hoping for a sighting, but they must have been well gone by then.

Was a bit choppy in the clyde, but dead calm around the Kyles, so I hope they had a good time in the SIBS.

Hi Paul.. Im just back..and we all had a great time..although choppy it didnt affect any of us..all boats handled it very well.. I will post photos and a bit of a story behind it all in the next day or two

For timing..we left Largs around 11am on Sat.. Crossed North of Great Cumbrae to Ascog point ..ran through the Kyles and stopped for coffee in Tighnabruach around 2.30 ? .. wild camped overnight in a wee bay just north of Portavadie.. left there around 9am.. headed round north of Inchmarnock.. south round Bute..landed at the Light house on Wee Cumbrae around 12 .. then went to Millport for Coffees etc..well the others did..I headed straight back to Largs..the Guys arrived Largs around 4 this afternoon. (All times are just approx from memory)

It was a very successful adventure ..and no major mishaps

Nice video by the way

Here is a preview of why you wouldn’t have noticed us.. we went disguised as white horses..You can just make Poly standing up in that wave

But at least it wasn't raining

LOL, I was just behind you guys, I think we pulled into Largs about 1pm. The weather was nice and dry, but it just kept getting windier throughout the afternoon.

Looking forward to the pics and report. Glad you were across the Clyde by lunch as it was pretty bumpy.

Jeezo!
As sad as I was to miss out on going I'm glad I didn't venture out.
I doubt getting battered around in that chop would have done my neck any good

The guys got caught in the bumpy bit..they were well out from Ardlamont Point at the crux of the wind..think Poly was trying to see if the aerotecs were as good as folks say.

Im wiser than most fish..so kept close to the weather shore..so only got the full fetch crossing to Inchmarnock. then had to wait for them coming out the mid channel melee

Haha Kaman, I was thinking of you on Friday pm..it was nice and calm and I thought you would be missing out on a good trip, but then on Sat afternoon, coming over from Largs..I thought wow that guy on Ribnet with the bad neck...really dodged the bullet today.

Gurnard, you sure are wiser than most fish...I think I would have been riding directly on the Guppies tail, if I was out in my sib.
