Haven't taken any pictures of Venom this year (except the first one), but a couple from last. I was busy cutting a hole in the deck today (Chris will know what this is for ) and repairing some rubbing strake that was starting to lift away mid ships.

V nice flagpole cum nav lights i assume? Just the sort of thing we were looking for a few months back pity something like that would have been absolutely perfect Was it a marine fab job, or did you manage to find it off the shelf if you don't mind me asking?

P.S. Stephen, I don't suppose you remember Paul Sweeting and his wife? I know them very well now, and happened to mention you getting the same boat as us when discussing ours with him a while back. He sends his best wishes

Was built to my own design I'm afraid. RH and LH ones were built not just for the nav light brackets but for the substantial brackets that fix them to the transom. I've got some loops welded on the back. The bottom ones are where the elephants trunk cords go though and the upper ones for flags etc.

It's the blunt end of the 'Egeria' - a Canadian sailing barque built in 1859 and scuttled in 1872 following an argument with Cape Horn. Used as a storage hulk for many years but now in imminent danger of falling into the sea due to gribble and teredo worm eating everything below the water, it sinks a bit every year though the timbers in the top section are as good as the day she was built. It's got a jetty built over the top of the mid section and the bow is long gone but the stern still provides handy shelter for the pontoons for the two company launches - that's Beagle in the photo behind me (Halmatic 9.8m, twin Mermaid Majestic shaft drive) and the Speedwell usually sits where I am parked (Halmatic Nelson 42, twin Volvo TAMD63 shaft drive). One day it will either fall in the sea or get pulled down before it does, most of the other wooden hulks have already gone as they started shedding little 3x9" and 12x12" timbers into the harbour, not good for GRP boats if you hit one end on

I wondered. I knew that Peter Throckmorton had blunted a few chainsaws on various bow sections but that sounds more like wear and tear.

Blimey that's an old one! she's still nearly horizontal - and by the boats there and a few of the buildings it must be early 80s or maybe earlier.

Yes it was a good trip. A very good turn out of Ospreys

If you're interested I've got a fair few pics of Jigsaw, both from that trip and a couple of other occasions when we have seen her if you were interested.

With two Vipermaxes in the Mt. St. Michel Bay and us 5mins down the road I hope we can have a little reunion sometime this year, I believe Blue Ray and crew are planning a cruise of our coast next year, so it should be fun

P.S. this is the other VM (charter boat) www.marcus4.fr (used to have a 250xs on it, that would have been as theoreticallyPOWERFUL as us!)

P.P.S. that boat has an odd fairground style handle that wraps around the suicide on the disco. Quite natty methinks!
