Skye in more Detail

The Skye coast line after Idrigill Point and heading west for Neist Point is arguably the best in the UK.

You can decide for yourself how true that may or may not be after watching the videos. .. however Im sure you will agree that's it is absolutely stunning.

Sea Stacks galore , caves, waterfalls, natural arches ..they are all there in abundance. Many birds, fish and even a whale entertained me on my visit.

I wanted to get in close to explore the area in great detail so went by my 2.75 meter long F Rib powered by a 6HP outboard. Its not a place to take lightly. I was totally alone ..not another boat was seen my entire visit.

I waited for the perfect weather window and went for it. I was a little concerned about disappearing in the cave systems .. or have a damaged prop in shallows so took a spare prop just in case .. but it was not required.

Enough wittering from me ... so ..here is the first part of the adventure, Hope you enjoy it.

Part two will follow when edited.

Best Regards
The Gurnard

Excellent....

Definitely the "upside" of a smaller boat.

Many years ago we managed to get a Land Rover stuck on the beach you launched from and I've been pulled off it again since then..

Looking forward to the next part.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to comment...and Im delighted you all enjoy the video. Im gaining confidence in my dulcet drone now so the commentaries are improving. For me it was hard initially, as I hate hearing myself when recorded. The talking does assist telling the story of the adventure ..and the scenery is that stunning it would be hard not to get good footage . Thanks again for your kind words.

In this video I continue west along this amazing Skye coastline. Every corner I go round seems to hold a surprise and the scenery gets better and better.

In part 3, I return to Loch Bracadale to visit its islands ..so watch for it coming soon. Then I move round to Staffin and explore its coastline heading towards Rubha Hunish ... although the cliffs are not so high..it is every bit as interesting and that will be in Part 4

Thanks for watching
Best Regards

This is the third part of my day exploring the Idrigill to Neist coastline. It was still too early to recover the boat so I did a tour of lovely Loch Bracadale. Definitely one of my most memorable trips this year.

It took a few days to edit as I had to record some new soundtracks. I included one of my all time favourite tracks on this video. It is played on my Yamaha keyboard..so I dont try to copy the original score too close ... an impossible task for a single keyboard and no vocalist.

Anyhoo..hope you enjoy the box set and it helps inspire you to have some adventures yourself. I have several more videos of the Skye area explored by my F Rib 2.75m boat ... which I will post once I get them made.

Thanks for watching
Best Regards

Another cracker Donny ! Loved the sound track including the Scots brogue overdubs and the " heavenly choir " accompaniment . Clare Torry eat your heart out

Must be time for a bit of Sandy now..... " Quiet Joys of brotherhood " perhaps ?

Ah..Sandy Denny is an old favourite of mine too Bern ..her songs bring back many youthful memories to me. Sadly she died young ... glady I didn’t … although I believe we both enjoyed a little too much alcohol in those days

While waiting for me to get the next ”Skye in detail” video made..its a trip into Spar Cave .. have a watch of this older video I made while reminiscing about my childhood memories..including Sandy's songs.

I was very ill when I made the video..my liver had stopped functioning properly and I was turning a lovely yellow colour. I looked on the bright side and did not let it get me down.A little of my scot's humour works wonders in times of need

Im delighted to say my liver is functioning normally again ... once the hospital flushed the chronic hepatitis from it and also the iron overload it was suffering. They keep a close eye on it as it took a pounding and Im at home this week while they monitor it again...then I will go more adventures.

There is still a bit of life left in this old git called The Gurnard ..and your mention of Sandy reminds me of that .. thank you for that.

Skye in Detail part 4 ... is a visit to Spar Cave on the Island of Skye. If you can only ever visit one cave in Scotland.. I would recommend you choose Spar Cave..

Thanks for watching
