Is it dangerous ?
Cause 3 years ago when my wife spoted some of them, in the midle of Evoic gulf, asked me to stop and jumped in. Never thought of it as a dangerous action. Is it ?

Dolphins in the wild can be potentially dangerous.
Is a rule that unless you know what you are doing with dolphins you NEVER approach them allone and with causion if you are with company. One hit from their fin and you can be damaged for life. Is not that they are agressive but they play quite vigorously and they get excited very easily. Also if they have young with them the group sometimes may become hostile to any intruder that they feel threatened by.
I have dived in Egypt (Hughada) with dolphins and sharks and we had to undergo half days tutorial before were allowed to dive.
It was a GREAT DIVE though.
Also where you have and see dolphins you always have sharks lurking around. The reason, sharks follow the dolphins as the dolphins have more sophisticated system to find fish. The sharks go for the fish that the dolphins find. This is the reason these two speaces don't allong very well.

Manos,
Hum, Dolphins and Sharks .... not in the UK. However getting in the water does have its dangers ... mainly pollution poisoning!
Also when our diving crowd played with a dolphin just out of Portland, the risk was not a thrashing playful fin .... but its sex tackle trying to force its way into anything that looked like it would take it.
Very very dangerous beasts!!! Especially when its finger of friendship comes out to play.

This is a photo of the "friendly" dolphin that Andy refers to - it was amazing to swim with.

Dolphins!
The Dolphin that 'arrives' at Portland is called George.
Doesn't like Divers much, but will 'play' with snokelers...
My friends (3 of them) saw him on the way back from a dive last year & jumped into the water near him. He was on the surface approx 50m away & when they got in 'George' headed at full speed to one of them! He 'stopped' only 2m away from flat out & my friend said he thought that he was history...
All he saw was a dorsal fin approaching at very high speed with no signs of stopping. He didn't think that is was possible for the dolphin to 'stop' that quickly & it gave him a new perspective on large aquatic mammals.
I was lucky enough to be in the company of 4 'wild' dolphins whilst on a reef dive in Egypt last year. They are amazing creatures. We were at 10-15m for 20min's with them then after being picked up by the Rib (Zodiac 4m), we found them back at the boat so had a 1/2 hour snorkel with them also... I'll never forget it. This sort of encounter WILL blow your mind.
