GOING UP AGAIN!!
You cannot appreciate how large the waves were. But I think looking forward on the starboard side of the bow you can see a small mountain hiding some of Kea Island LOLOL

A LOVELY SUNSET
Next day same boat going to Kithnos. Wind has now dropped to force 5-6.
For those who know how to read the weather you can see the dark and gray shades reflecting on the sun which is dust particles and means VERY STRONG WIND!! coming again!!
The land accross is Cape Sounion the tip of the Cape where Posidon Temple is and the little island you can just see is called San Giogio is deserted but has a wonderfull very loooong beach full of white sand and white pebles and is about 15 miles or so from Cape Sounion.

bulls**t
Dear Manos, if that wind speed is 58 knots, my arse is a banjo, have you missed out a decimal place?
I hope the chaps at bavaria yachts don't use the laminating techniques that some SA rib manufacturers appear to like, i.e. in the dark, blindfolded and wearing boxing gloves just to make sure,!

It was 58 knots
Well I don't want to argue woith you spodge but REALLY the wind meter showed 58 knots before we set sail.
Also the ships and commercial traffic was not permited to sail from ports.
It was one of these summers that the wind was VERY STRONG from July-Sept. Freak weather conditions.
Any way if it makes you happy the wind wasn't 58 knots (but it really was)

Sploge
Sorry I was wrong. Looked @ te log book and the wind was 48 knots.
It was VERY WINDY and the waves were like mountains. You cannot appreciate how bad it was from the photos. But it was not very nice.
I will NEVER EVER do this again!! I am not into endurance courses but into rather leasurely sailing around the Greek coves.
Any way by the time the boat was back to Cape Sounion (by the way this was my boat @ the time) we had to change the mast (it was not streight any more), had lost the dingy, lost 3 fenders, had small damage on the autopilot, both the loud speakers in the cockpit were brokenand finally had to replace the roler reefer mechanism.
Any way is a loong time since then, we were lucky nothing worst did not happen to us and it we put it all down to experience!!
